On March 15, 2012 new standards for ATM terminals were set into law with legislation passed under the American With Disabilities Act (ADA). These regulations will make all ATMs much easier to use. The ATM’s are more accessible and some of the key changes include: audio or voice guidance, visual / screen visibility & display, raised key surfaces, Braille instructions, keypads, and function keys, ATM placement / height & reach and a clear floor space.
The requirement set meant that all Independent ATM Deployers had to be ADA compliant by the 2012 deadline, although many are still not. An ATM that does not meet the standards can result in a civil penalty of up to $55,000 for a first offense and double that amount for subsequent offenses. Many IDA’s are still working to become ADA compliant because in some cases there may be cases where you need to upgrade or replace entire machines (generally older ATM models) in order to be compliant.
ADA standards are mandatory for all ATM machines, and if yours is not, we can help! Cord Financial can provide ADA site surveys with special ADA pricing. We can supply and install all Braille stickers where needed Instead of replacing a late model of an ATM we can simply provide an ADA upgrade kit. We have special ADA pricing on New Equipment upgrades and we also have Lease & Placement options
